Sorry for the short notice, but if anyone is interested, I will be doing a Lotus drive this coming Wednesday morning. The route is attached on the link below. Scattered thunderstorms are forecast in the mountains in the afternoon, but we will start early and hopefully avoid any potential nastiness.
Here's the plan:
1. Rendezvous at 8:45 for a 9 AM departure from the parking lot at Pine Junction on the northeast corner of the intersection of US 285 and Pine Valley Rd. (For those coming out of the Colorado Springs area we'll DEPART from the Rudy's BBQ parking lot at US 24 and 31st St. at 7:30 and go by Woodland Park and CO 67 to the Pine Junction rendezvous point)
2. Proceed west on US 285 to Grant,
3. Turn north and then go over Guanella Pass to Georgetown.
4. From Georgetown go west on I-70 (groan!) to US 6 and continue over Loveland Pass to CO 9 by Swan Mountain Rd.
5. Turn south on CO 9 to Breckenridge and continue over Hoosier Pass to Fairplay and US 285.
6. Turn east on US 285 to Jefferson.
7. For those returning to the Denver area the quickest way home you can continue east on US 285 to home. But for those wanting a longer drive or returning to the Colorado Springs area we will turn east on Tarryall Rd. to US 24 at Lake George.
8. Turn east on US 24 to Woodland Park.
9. For those returning to the Denver area, turn north on CO 67 to Deckers and on to Pine Junction. For those returning to the C. Springs area just continue east on US 24 to home.
Total distance is about 6 hours of driving time and 260 miles for anyone making the complete loop from Colorado Springs, or depending on the weather. We may stop somewhere along the way for lunch (Probably the BBQ place in Lake George), but we'll play that by ear.
No need to RSVP, just show up at the rendezvous point(s) at the time(s) indicated. If you have any questions, just send me an e-mail.
